Tips and Interesting Facts
The Nature of Handmade Rugs
- Handcrafted products will always have slight differences when compared, as they are not made by machines but by skilled artisans, which we call the beauty of imperfection.
- All our rugs are handwoven, one at a time, so it is very rare to create identical pieces. Each piece will be unique and the product will always have slight variations, maintaining the same constant theme in an artistic way.
- Variations in color, shading, texture, and shape are inherent in a handmade item. And remember, this is what really makes your rug truly unique.
Instructions and Care
- Rotate the rug every 3 months to prevent fading and uneven wear.
- Vacuum regularly using suction only, without bristles. Regular vacuuming will reduce shedding over time.
- Avoid pulling loose threads. If necessary, trim them to be level with the pile height.
- Avoid direct sunlight to prevent UV damage or fading.
- Clean as needed using a damp (not wet) cloth with plain water; use a mild detergent as needed.
- Professional cleaning is recommended; send the rug to a professional service with experience in cleaning fine rugs.
- To preserve the life of the rug, we recommend using a non-slip underlay.
“Defects” Not Covered by the Product Warranty
- Shedding or pilling. (This can be reduced by vacuuming the carpet on a low-power setting at least once a week).
- Occasional pulls or loss of single tufts of fiber.
- Changes in color and texture due to the use of natural fibers and dyes or prolonged exposure to sunlight, moisture, or heat.
- Roll marks. (These may disappear with routine vacuuming).
- Tangles and creases in rugs, which can be minimized by proper rug maintenance. When this happens, we recommend laying the rug flat on the floor without any weight on top and avoiding walking on it for a few days until the creases disappear.
Important: Do not use an iron or chemicals on rugs in an attempt to remove creases, as this may damage them. - Rugs recently removed from their packaging may have a characteristic odor, which can be dissipated by placing the carpet (backing side up) in direct sunlight for 24 hours.
